My experience as an intern at The Bamboo Garden has provided me with many learning opportunities that will contribute to my future career prospects. With a team that’s incredibly fun and supportive and a working environment that’s laid back but hard working it’s hard not to enjoy your time at The Bamboo Garden.
Background Information: My name is Cassendra, but you can call me Cass, and I’ve been with The Bamboo Garden team for six months. I came on board as an intern during my final year of study at the University of Technology Sydney completing a Bachelor Degree of Communications majoring in Digital and Social Media.
No Day is the Same Day: I’m sure this saying has been said everywhere but it’s entirely true. I come in about 2-3 days a week and each day I’m given different tasks to complete by the end of the day. Tasks range from writing blog posts, creating monthly social media schedules, uploading monthly social media schedules, updating FB carousel ads, creating newsletters, photoshoots, and the list goes on!
Clients & Projects: The Bamboo Garden have a large range of clients and projects that they cater to that are spread across a diverse range of industries including food& hospitality, lifestyle, real estate, fashion, IT, medical and law. Since the beginning of my time at The Bamboo Garden I’ve gotten to contribute to client projects creating content for a select few of these clients. I’ve learnt many new things from these clients from the benefits of different teas, tips on buying/moving/selling in real estate, what sleep apnoea is, to even what you shouldn’t eat after a whitening procedure.
Office Environment & Vibes: At The Bamboo Garden they’ve got a small intimate team that are close knit and extremely approachable and friendly. If you’re ever stuck on anything or need some help, any member of the team are willing to assist you. The office space is not your average office with vibrant pops of colours around the room with an epic graffiti mural and motivational, if not inspirational, words hung up around the walls. You’ve got your in house DJ Justin who’ll be busting jams all day everyday with each day a new vibe (and we’ll never forget that day we played and sung to our favourite Disney tunes) and constant team outings.
Mentorship & Learning Opportunities: Since the beginning of my time at The Bamboo Garden each week I have learnt something new. There’s always ongoing support to learn more about SEO, Google AdWords and basic walkthroughs of programs such as Excel, Photoshop etc. With constant team training meetings and on hands support I’ve learnt about SEO and Google AdWords, further enhanced my skills in Excel, Photoshop, photography as well as learnt how to use programs such as Hootsuite, Lightroom and Mailchimp.
If you’re looking for industry experience, learning and enhancing your skills and knowledge, being surrounding by an awesome team and awesome vibes then I highly recommend interning at The Bamboo Garden. With flexibility to suit your university timetable, you’ll be gaining industry experience to build your resume in no time!
